Behind the Scenes at Dubai World Cup

With so many incredible events in the UAE, there is one population that often goes unrecognized in the public eye; volunteers.

In order to assure that visitors at the recent Dubai World Cup enjoyed all the wonders of this incredible track, volunteers were enlisted from institutions throughout the UAE to carry the Cup’s message forward. Recruitment is in fact a strategic plan for event organizers, and the results can make the difference between a good event and a life-changing experience.

Several universities such as the Higher Colleges of Technology, Zayed University, and Dubai Men’s College were involved, along with employees from various fields including Dubai Police. This formed a total of approximately 200 volunteers from diverse nationalities and age groups.

Even though the job was for a short period of time, there are “contracts” signed by the volunteers, assigned as part-time jobs. The volunteers were asked to work during weekends for two months, forming a total of 10 working days. And the benefits? Well, for the Dubai World Cup it was only fitting that volunteers got to work in style. In addition to having their food paid for, at the end of the work experience, each volunteer was handed a certificate along with AED 2,500!

If you got to go to the Dubai World Cup, we know you’ll agree that the race was a huge success, in no small part due to the kind and generous people working there. If you have a similar passion to contribute, event organizers are usually looking for volunteers at least a month ahead of time (most organizations have links on their websites to get on the list). Be part of the action today and see what you can do in the Middle East’s number one entertainment destination!
